Book Review | C.L. Coffey | Angel In Training

Angel in Training

This book was sent to me for free. This book was sent to me by the author. This book was sent to me in exchange for an honest review.

Author: C.L. Coffey
Title: Angel In Training
Genre: Angels, Fantasy, Paranormal, Young Adult
Pages: 297
Price: £8.99
Series: Louisiangel

Started: 6th November 2016
Finished: 19th November 2016

Synopsis: After a night out turns fatal, a misunderstanding with the archangel Michael presents Angel with a chance at eternal life: the opportunity to earn her wings and one day become an archangel herself. Angel is given the task of protecting her charge, trainee detective, Joshua Walsh. There's no denying the attraction between Angel and Joshua, only Michael has strict rules:
  • No drinking
  • No drugs
  • And certainly no relationships with humans
Thankfully, she's got other things to deal with, like trying to convince Joshua that New Orleans has a serial killer who is preying on other angel potentials like herself. Angel must quickly learn that when keeping someone safe, doing the right thing is not always the easiest, especially when you've got an archangel looking over your shoulder.

Review: I would like to thank the author for sending me a signed copy of this book along with a signed bookmark. I will have to buy the rest of the series to have the complete set on my shelves. Originally I was unsure that I would like this book but wanted the rest of the books just so I had the full set. However, it turns out that I actually loved this book and cannot wait to own and read the rest of the series. When this book was offered to me I read the synopsis and decided that it might be an interesting read but I did not realise just how interesting it would be. This book is action packed and keeps the reader on the edge of their seats wondering who the killer is and if Angel will ever earn her wings. I found myself lost between the pages of this book for hours at a time. Angel In Training ends on quite a cliffhanger that made me wish I could jump straight into the second book in the series. I cannot wait to own the rest of the series and find out what happens with Angel and the other potentials along with the fight that the angels are preparing for. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys young adult and paranormal novels. This book will have a permanent place on my shelves and surely be joined by the rest of the series and other books by C.L. Coffey.

This is the twelfth book in the Cirque Du Freak series. I bought all twelve of the books in the Cirque Du Freak series at a local second hand shop. These books cost 99p and come on a buy one get one free offer. This was an epic read and leads perfectly on from the book before. I have really enjoyed this book set up to now and i'm sure that the rest of the books will be just as good. I would highly recommend this book box-set to anyone with an interest in Young Adult and Paranormal books. Review:
This is the seventh book in the Cirque Du Freak series. I bought all twelve of the books in the Cirque Du Freak series at a local second hand shop. These books cost 99p and come on a buy one get one free offer. The more books from the set that I read, the more invested in Darren Shan I become. When I finish a book from this series I cannot wait to pick up the next one. The Cirque Du Freak book box-set next fails to keep me hooked to the plots. I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait to continue on with the rest of the series and I will be sad to see it end when I finish the last book. When reading this book I found myself lost in the pages for many hours at a time. Darren Shan has a way of writing that can make the reader feel like they are an invisible bystander to the lives of the characters and not just reading a book. I am very invested in this book set and find it to be an excellent and cohesive read from one book to the next. I would highly recommend these books to anyone with an interest in Young Adult and Paranormal books. These books are a quick and easy read. In the near future I am planning to buy this set brand new and donating the used copies back to a second hand shop so that someone else can experience the brilliance of Darren Shan's books.

This is the sixth book in the Cirque Du Freak series. I bought all twelve of the books in the Cirque Du Freak series at a local second hand shop. These books cost 99p and come on a buy one get one free offer. So far I am really invested in this book series and cannot wait to continue with the rest of the series. I cannot wait to read the conclusion to such a gripping set of books. So far these books have never failed to grip me and this one was no exception. I really enjoyed this book; there was a lot of action to keep my head firmly between the pages of this book. These books have a way about them that makes you feel like you are a part of the story; like you are an invisible bystander watching the characters lives play out before you. When I pick up a Darren Shan book I find that I am stuck within the pages for days at a time. I would highly recommend this book series to anyone with an interest in Young Adult and paranormal books. Only one thing is certain - Darren's initiation into the clan is more deadly than he can ever have imagined.

Review:
This is the fourth book in the Cirque Du Freak series. I bought all twelve of the books in the Cirque Du Freak series at a local second hand shop. These books cost 99p and come on a buy one get one free offer. I really enjoyed this book and have high hopes for the rest of the series. It did take me a while to get into this book as the start was quite slow but once I did I found that I could not put the book down. As I mentioned at first the book started a bit slow but as the action picked up I found myself getting lost in this book. Whilst reading this book I felt like I was a part of this story and like I was actually experiencing the events and not just reading about what was happening. In my opinion it is the sign of a good book when the reader feels like they are living the story and not reading it. I would recommend this book to anyone with an interest in young adult and paranormal stories. In the near future I plan to buy these books brand new and donate the used ones to a second hand shop so that someone else can experience the brilliance of Darren Shan.

Book Review | Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu & David Brian | Carmilla: The Wolves Of Styria

Carmilla: The Wolves of Styria

I received this book for free from the author. This book was sent to me through Bostick Communications. I was sent this book in exchange for an honest review.

Author: Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu & David Brian
Title: Carmilla: The Wolves Of Styria
Genre: Horror, Gothic, Vampires, Supernatural, Paranormal, Thriller, Classics, Historical

Synopsis: When fate draws together the lives of two young women, their mutual attraction quickly flourishes into a bond which threatens the boundaries of social etiquette in 1860's Styria. As their relationship continues to develop further, they remain oblivious to the growing horror which surrounds them, as throughout the province other young women begin dying in mysterious circumstances. Meanwhile, others are falling victim to the apparently random attacks of a rampaging pack of wolves. A local doctor named Alvinci desperately attempts to find an explanation for the bizarre deaths, but when the truth is finally revealed, he quickly realises that he is in way over his head.

Years before the publication of Bram Stoker's Dracula, Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu produced a haunting gothic mystery called Carmilla. Now, more than a hundred years later, David Brian has used much of the original narrative to create a very different version of Carmilla.

Introducing an array of new characters, and touching on subjects that would have been considered taboo during the 1800's. Brian has succeeded in bringing a whole new level of horror and tragedy, to the legend of Carmilla.

Carmilla: The wolves of Styria is a thrilling ride. A dark romance. A dark and twisting mystery. A gothic classic for the 21st Century.

Review: I would like to thank the author for the chance to read such an amazing book. This is truly such an amazing and interesting book that I find myself somewhat obsessed with. At first I found it hard to get into the book but a few chapters in and I was hooked. I was not able to stop myself from reading this book and could not put it down to do other things. I had my head in this book constantly for many days. I have lost many hours to the reading of this book and I would not change this for anything as it was worth every second I spent lost in the pages of this book. This book will definitely have a permanent place in my collection as well as in my heart. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical fiction about the supernatural beings surrounded by myth. This book is a must for anyone who appreciates getting lost between the pages of a book and a story that feels more real than a book. This book makes you feel like you are experiencing the story through your own eyes and not off the pages of a book.

With the help of friends, Anthony has to survive all attacks from evil to raise The War Prince, who is reincarnated as his son.

Review: This is an absolutely amazing book and I was lost in the story straight from the first page. I was so lost in the pages of this book that I just could not bring myself to put it down and stop reading. I had read this book constantly since I picked it up and was saddened by the realization that I had finished it and in such a short space of time. I can see myself settling down with this book again in the near future and for many more years to come. This book will be a permanent part of my extensive book collection. This book shows that with hard work, determination and faith, good will always win. This was such a brilliant story line and it was really easy to follow and keep up with. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading but who especially enjoys fantasy and/or the paranormal. Review: This is an excellent read that I found myself lost in. I could not bring myself to put this book down so I spent days with my head in this book. I will be re-reading this book many times over for many years to come. I like how the story line switches between the past and the present with ease. This book has an interesting story line that follows a family and a curse on their family name through many generations. This story shows how making bad or good choices can have an impact on life. This story brings the living and the dead into close proximity and then at the end the dead and the living actually meet. The meeting of the dead and the living brings and end to the curse and the long dead went off into the afterlife.
