Review:
Before starting the actual review I would like to thank the publisher for contacting me about reviewing this book. When I first read the synopsis of this book I was unsure that I would like it as I am not really a fan of romance novels. After only a few pages I was oddly hooked on the storyline. I am actually glad that I enjoyed this book and am able to give the author a positive review. This was an interesting and enjoyable read. I agreed to review this book as I wanted to branch out and experience new genres. This is the first romance novel that I have read and took a chance with. This book has definitely made me more open to the romance genre. What I liked about this book is that it is not set in a fake and perfect world; There is a realistic element to this world and all the events that take place. This book managed to grip my attention and pull me into the book. I found it hard to put this book down and stop reading. From the start I found my self rooting for the relationship of Lacey and Finn. This book has made me more open to reading more romance novels. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance novels. But on the flip side I would suggest that those who do not normally read romance books give this book a chance as I am sure that it will bring a whole new experience to the readers. I am happy to have this book as a part of my ever-growing collection and it will remain on my shelves permanently.

Book Review | Ruth Finnegan | Black Inked Pearl

Black Inked Pearl: A Girl's Quest

I received this book for free from the author. This book was sent to me through Bostick Communications. Ruth Finnegan, the author, sent me this book in exchange for an honest review.

Author: Ruth Finnegan
Title: Black Inked Pearl
Genre: Romance

Synopsis: An epic romance about the naive Irish girl Kate and her mysterious lover, whom she rejects and then spends her life seeking. Beside an African river, Kate realises both her emotions and her passionate and consuming love for the man she rejected. The story becomes more mythic and timeless as Kate seeks her lover through Heaven and Earth, Eden and Hell. Rejected in her turn, Kate waits in the dust outside the closed gates of Heaven where her lover finds her only to be rejected again. Through an ultimate sacrifice by him, they reach Heaven, but Kate still has to accept his sacrifice and so find herself - a pearl. The novel, born in dreams, is interlaced with the eternity of love and the ambiguity between dream and reality.

Review: I would like to thank the author for giving me the chance to read this book. This book was an interesting read even though I am not a fan of romance books. At first I struggled to get into this book but I am glad that I stuck with it as the further I read the more I enjoyed the book. I would recommend this book to any lovers of romance stories and only if you can stick with a book that is difficult to get stuck into. However, I would say to check out other reviews as I am sure that people will have enjoyed this book and got into easier than I did so their review may be better for opinions on this book. If you are willing to just take a chance then this book is worth a shot and you may find that this book is more for you than it is for me. I'm sure romance readers will enjoy this book from beginning to end.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

* The only reason that this book does not get the full 5 stars is because I struggled to read the first few chapters and I did not think that I would enjoy this book. I did like this book but it was not as good as other books that I have read. I think that the reason I did not enjoy this book is because I am not a huge fan of the romance genre.

Book Excerpt | Wesley Rivers | Letters To Laura

Excerpt from Letters to Laura:

“...She was a terrible girlfriend, an even worse friend, and I would have done anything for her. Why? Why would anyone devote so much to someone so messed up and cruel? Because she was me. I mean, not exactly. I know there were a lot of differences in how we treated people, how we chose to mask our brokenness, but she was essentially just like me. She was looking for someone to save her, rescue her, make all the nightmares disappear inside of a kiss. And it inspired in me a grand desire to be all she dreamed for. Because if I could save her, maybe it would save me as well.
When the dust settled and the smoke cleared, I was alone. My princess, the one I worked so hard to save, had betrayed me. She’d sold me out to the enemy of loneliness and I was bound by the chains of heartache, held in the prison of good intentions. I looked down at myself, busted and bleeding profusely from every wound I’d ever gotten. They were all noticeable now, glaring back at me saying…”this is it, you've suffered long enough, we won’t survive this one, not unless a miracle comes”.
I don’t know whether it was the right time, or just the right combination of events, advice from well–meaning friends, and a few bottles of organic beer. But a sudden moment of clarity took me over. If I wanted to get out of this mess, break from these chains and storm my way out of my self–made prison, I’d need a new perspective. No one was coming to save me. There was no knight in shining armor. My princess was long gone and would not offer aid. I took a deep breath, wiped the tears from my eyes, and decided I’d be my own miracle. I looked grief in the eye and said, “I’m ready.” Grief, the surgeon to the lost, cut me wide open, removed all the faulty wiring, and gave me a new chance.

A chance to become my own hero.”

Imitating Art

Author: Sarah Parry
Title: Imitating Art
Genre: Mystery, Romantic Suspense, Fiction, Romance

Synopsis: Don't get mad - write a book about it! Well not IT exactly, but writing a book is what Nell Flanagan did to get over her philandering husband Patrick, leaving her for a younger model. An exercise that started out as therapy, but ended up with her becoming an International bestselling author. Things are looking up at last, until events start happening in real life that start mirroring events in Nell's book. When Patrick goes missing in similar circumstances to the husband in her novel, Nell finds herself under the scrutiny of handsome Detective Sergeant Rob Parsons, whom she labels with the same womanising brush as her husband, particularly when he tries to flirt with her during questioning. And then when her twelve years old daughter, Laurel, is kidnapped, Nell finds herself on the road south with the last person on earth she would want help from - the handsome police officer himself! Imitating Art is a romantic caper introducing a new detective duo that sizzles like the best flirtatious banter!
