Knowing how to present one’s self at school, a party, an important event, or a business setting is vitally important today. Girls will practice proper skin care, hygiene awareness, posture, nail care, communication skills, a positive attitude, writing thank you notes, managing time, and setting goals. In addition, they will learn how to build a wardrobe on a budget, how to fold and wash clothes, how to clean and cook, how to plan a successful party, phone etiquette, how to host, and set a table. The instructional end of the session’s banquet four-course meal will allow girls an opportunity to put what they have learned into practice and are definite highlights of this program. Mastery of these skills is a life process.

Book Excerpt | Wesley Rivers | Letters To Laura

Excerpt from Letters to Laura:

“...She was a terrible girlfriend, an even worse friend, and I would have done anything for her. Why? Why would anyone devote so much to someone so messed up and cruel? Because she was me. I mean, not exactly. I know there were a lot of differences in how we treated people, how we chose to mask our brokenness, but she was essentially just like me. She was looking for someone to save her, rescue her, make all the nightmares disappear inside of a kiss. And it inspired in me a grand desire to be all she dreamed for. Because if I could save her, maybe it would save me as well.
When the dust settled and the smoke cleared, I was alone. My princess, the one I worked so hard to save, had betrayed me. She’d sold me out to the enemy of loneliness and I was bound by the chains of heartache, held in the prison of good intentions. I looked down at myself, busted and bleeding profusely from every wound I’d ever gotten. They were all noticeable now, glaring back at me saying…”this is it, you've suffered long enough, we won’t survive this one, not unless a miracle comes”.
I don’t know whether it was the right time, or just the right combination of events, advice from well–meaning friends, and a few bottles of organic beer. But a sudden moment of clarity took me over. If I wanted to get out of this mess, break from these chains and storm my way out of my self–made prison, I’d need a new perspective. No one was coming to save me. There was no knight in shining armor. My princess was long gone and would not offer aid. I took a deep breath, wiped the tears from my eyes, and decided I’d be my own miracle. I looked grief in the eye and said, “I’m ready.” Grief, the surgeon to the lost, cut me wide open, removed all the faulty wiring, and gave me a new chance.

A chance to become my own hero.”

Book Review | Michel Logue-Provost | The Rehab

The Rehab: Volume 1 (Apokalypse)

Author: Michel Logue-Provost
Title: The Rehab: Book One Of Apokalypse
Genre: Science Fiction, Fantasy, Dystopian

Synopsis: In a world once ravaged by nuclear winter, with the last known city falling into turmoil, a brassy young police officer by the name of Frank William Fasaro strives to carry out his duties whilst struggling with serious questions about his past, eventually learning that nothing at all is quite as it seems. With the city in chaos, with the awoken growing bolder by the minute and his brothers in arms tied up in a losing war, he may not have the time that he needs to find the answers he's looking for. But those answers might just find him first. He may not realise it, but the clock is ticking.
When Doctor Edward Munro's prime subject was scheduled for termination, first he was sad, then angry. The commission of Higher Sciences was throwing away his first, his baby, his point of pride. He'd spent over twenty years of his life working on that confounded program of theirs and was there from its very inception. For them to tear away the key element of his research when he was so close to finding a solution to all their problems was frustrating to no end. Unwilling to part with his life's work, this mild mannered curious little man will dig deep to find the courage and the allies that he needs to take back the work he started so long ago. And finish it.
After an anonymously delivered package showed up on his desk, Captain Leonard Boston couldn't believe its contents. Someone wanted him to believe that one of his own was in league with the awoken. Sure, there's been rats in the agency before - that was nothing new - but this was someone he knew well. This was someone he respected, even if he did get on his last nerve sometimes. The video evidence all but painted the accused guilty and left the captain feeling sick to the stomach but he just couldn't accept what he was seeing. He didn't like it but he didn't really have a choice: he'd have to investigate.

Review: At the start of the book I found it really hard to get into the story but I am glad that I stuck at reading it because by chapter three I was hooked and found it near to impossible to put the book down and stop reading. This book swaps between character storylines; I find this a truly interesting way to write and it managed to hook my attention and reel me further into the book. The changing character storylines make me want to keep reading to find out what is happening with each of the characters.
I absolutely am in love with this book and I am absolutely honoured that the author sent me a signed copy for review otherwise I would not have known about this gem of a book. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys following character storylines intently and following multiple storylines at the same time. It is interesting that one chapter you can be reading about one character and then the next chapter snaps you away from that storyline into a completely different one.
I just really enjoyed reading this book and can see myself enjoying it many more times in the future and sharing it with others so that they can enjoy it just as much as I did.

Review: This is a book that crosses through many genres so it is much more exciting than a book that is connected to a specific genre. I really enjoyed reading this book and got lost in the story from the moment that I started to read this book. I felt like I was actually a part of the story and not just reading  a book. I would enjoy this book more if I had a physical copy of the book as I just prefer to have something that I can hold and feel rather than digital copies. I would recommend this book to any avid reader who enjoys getting lost in a story.

However, evidence develops and even Peter’s brother, Vinny, who dropped everything to help his injured brother recover, begins to question Peter’s guilt. Synopsis: All that Celeste Wilder ever wanted was to find someone who would sweep her off her feet like she had seen in countless romantic movies. When she meets the gorgeous and mysterious Constantin brothers her senior year of high school, she gets much more than what she had bargained for. As they introduce her to an exciting supernatural world that she never imagined existed, she makes a startling discovery about her own family legacy and is forced to make a decision that will change her life forever.

Review: This is an excellent read that gripped my attention instantly and I could just not drag myself away from reading it so had it finished the day that I started it. I would read this book over and over again if I had the paperback copy of it. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to read young adult books. This book would also appeal to readers who enjoy fantasy, fiction and science fiction.

Book Review | Melissa Silvey | Prisoner

Prisoner (All of You Book 1)

Author: Melissa Silvey
Title: Prisoner
Genre: Romance, Fiction, Military, Erotica, Adult Fiction

Synopsis: All I have to do to spend another night with her, is kill...
She's a bad girl who does whatever she wants. But when tragic circumstances happen in the charmed life of Detective Melanie "Lani" Vaden, she realizes that not everything in the world is about her. She makes a crazy decision, and with the help of her partner and step-father, she carries it out. Little did she know, she'd end up meeting a knight in distress, and she was the only princess who could help him out.
Antony "Tony" Roman was unjustly imprisoned for trumped up charges he did not commit. He had no hope of ever seeing the light of day again. Stuck in solitary confinement, he hadn't even seen another person in years, his only interaction being with his guard, through the hatch.
What happens when these two are literally thrown together? Selfish, self-centered Lani has finally found someone who needs her. Tony can't ask the beautiful creature who comes to him, almost like an angel, for help, because he knows there's no hope for him. He can give her nothing in return, except every piece of himself.
Adult Only 18+ m/f erotic romance (very brief f/f scene)

Review: This a book only for the adult readers as there is scenes of a sexual nature through out this story. Normally I do not read books containing adult content but I did not mind this book. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy erotica stories or the odd sexual scene throughout stories.
